J.K.Mahendra, the live-wire of Kerala Veteran’s cricket. A dashing all rounder, meticulous organizer, cricket memorabilia cricketer, entertainer, etc - Cricket is a way of life for “J.K “, as he is fondly known to the cricket fraternity.
He is the Senior Vice-President of Board of Veteran Cricket in India and former National Junior Selector. “J.K” came to limelight as a cricketer when he toured England with Indian Schools team in 1968. He played for Kerala in the Ranji Trophy for many years.
“J.K.’s” life-long passion for the game has prodded him to set up a cricket gallery in Chepauk, Chennai and KSCA, Bangalore which houses amazing photographs of the legends in the field, bats autographed by them and many other memorabilia. Mahendra, is perhaps one of the few serious cricket memorabilia collectors in the country, who's realised the value of dabbling in cricket merchandise
"The idea of collectibles has only now begun in India. There hasn't been much heritage preservation in the cricket world," says JK, who set up India's only cricket home stay - a theme-based guesthouse - at Chennai, Bangalore & Cochin. The Bat & Ball inn houses phenomenal collection of cricket memorabilia from the world over.
Cricket occupies every moment of J.K Mahendra’s Life. Films always attracted J.K, this perhaps led him to acting. He has just made his debut in Malayalam & Tamil Films. |
